President & Chief Executive Officer
Guillermo Novo is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Versum Materials (the “CEO”) and a member of its Board of Directors. In this role, he is focused on setting the strategy and policies of the company, developing leadership, and meeting shareholder commitments.
Mr. Novo had served as Executive Vice President, Materials Technologies of Air Products since October 2014.
Mr. Novo joined Air Products in 2012 as Senior Vice President Electronics, Performance Materials, Strategy and Technology. Prior to Air Products, Mr. Novo was employed by Dow Chemical Company where he most recently served as group vice president, Dow Coating Materials, a large specialty chemicals business. He began his career in 1986 with Rohm and Haas Company (which merged with Dow in 2009) and over the next 24 years progressed through a variety of commercial, marketing, and general management positions, living in South America, the U.S., and Asia. In 1998, Mr. Novo was named a vice president at Rohm and Haas, and in 2006 he became a corporate officer and one of five group executives on the corporate leadership team responsible for driving the overall strategy for the company.
Mr. Novo holds a B.S. degree in industrial engineering from the University of Central Florida and an MBA from the University of Michigan.
Mr. Novo is a member of the advisory board for the College of Engineering & Computer Science at the University of Central Florida.
Executive Vice President & Chief Financial Officer
George G. Bitto is Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at Versum Materials. He is responsible for all aspects of the worldwide financial organization, including Controllership, Treasury, Tax, Audit, Business Services and Investor Relations as well as Information Technology.
Mr. Bitto had served as Vice President, Finance of the Materials Technologies business of Air Products, since October 2014.
He joined Air Products in 1987 as a participant in the company’s Career Development Program and held a variety of analyst and management positions within the controllership and treasury organizations. In 2000 he was appointed general manager of the company’s North America Liquid Bulk business. Mr. Bitto returned to the finance organization, where he was named controller for the Chemicals Group in 2002, and vice president and controller for the Gases and Equipment Group in 2004. In 2007 Mr. Bitto was named vice president and treasurer, and in 2010 he was appointed vice president, treasurer, and chief risk officer.
Mr. Bitto holds a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering degree from Villanova University and an MBA from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business. Before joining Air Products, Mr. Bitto worked for General Electric, where he graduated from their Technical Marketing Program and held various positions in their sales and marketing organizations.
Mr. Bitto is a Certified Management Accountant and has served on the boards of various non-profit organizations.
Senior Vice President & Chief Technology Officer
John Langan is Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer for Versum Materials.
Prior to his current position at Versum Materials, Dr. Langan served as Director of Technology for the Electronics Materials Division of the Materials Technologies business of Air Products since September 2007.
Dr. Langan joined Air Products in 1988, working on semiconductor process materials research, product development and technology management. In 1998, he was named Air Products Global OEM business development manager. In 2000, Dr. Langan went on to serve as director of technology in various engineering and business unit roles at Novellus Systems, Inc. In 2005, he would return to Air Products and serve as the business manager for the post-CMP cleans formulated product line before assuming his position as director of technology for Air Products Electronic Materials Division in 2007.
Dr. Langan holds a B.S. degree in Chemistry from Boston College, a Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry from Columbia University and was a Post-Doctoral Research Associate in the Chemistry Department at MIT.
Patrick F. Loughlin
Senior Vice President, Operations & Supply Chain
Patrick F. Loughlin is Senior Vice President Operations and Supply Chain at Versum Materials. He is responsible for all fulfillment activities, including operations, supply chain, procurement, engineering, customer service, Environment, Health, and Safety (EH&S), and business improvement.
Mr. Loughlin had served as Vice President, Operations and Supply Chain, for Air Products’ Materials Technologies business in June 2015.
Mr. Loughlin joined Air Products in 1988 as a participant in the company’s Career Development Program. Following a series of operations and plant management roles in Europe and North America, Mr. Loughlin moved to the Performance Materials Division’s marketing area in 1999. In 2003 he served as director, Performance Products, in Tokyo, Japan, where he led the acquisition and integration of two strategic businesses. In 2005 Mr. Loughlin was assigned to Shanghai, China, to lead the Asia Chemicals and Performance Materials businesses through a period of strategic repositioning and rapid growth. He returned to the U.S. in 2008 and subsequently was appointed vice president, Environment, Health, Safety and Quality. Mr. Loughlin was named vice president, Electronics Materials Fulfillment, in 2012 prior to assuming his current position.
Mr. Loughlin holds a B.S. degree in chemistry from the U.S. Naval Academy, an M.S. degree in chemical engineering from Rutgers University, and an M.S.M. degree in management of technology from The Georgia Institute of Technology and served 7 years as an officer in the US Navy.
Senior Vice President, Materials
Edward Shober is Senior Vice President of the Materials segment of Versum Materials. Based in Taipei, Taiwan, he leads the Advanced Materials business, including the planarization, surface prep and clean, and advanced deposition product platforms, in addition to the Process Materials business, which manufactures various fluorine, hydride and dopant materials for the semiconductor, display and LED industries.
Prior to his current position at Versum Materials, Mr. Shober served as the Vice President of Advanced Materials for the Materials Technologies business of Air Products since 2012.
Mr. Shober joined Air Products in 1994, leading engineering activities in the Electronics engineering and Electronics package plants organizations. In 1999, he was named vice president of engineering and operations for TRiMEGA, a joint venture between Air Products and Kinetic Systems providing turnkey solutions to semiconductor fabs, and served as TRiMEGA’s chief operating officer from 2001-2004. Mr. Shober went on to lead DA NanoMaterials, Air Products’ joint venture with DuPont, as its chief operating officer from 2004-2007 and chief executive officer from 2007-2010. In October 2011, he served as Director of Advanced Materials Integration, Electronics Division, until assuming leadership of Air Products’ Advanced Materials business.
Prior to joining Air Products, Mr. Shober held management roles at various companies, including president of E. C. Shober & Associates, which provided construction and project management services to semiconductor manufacturers.
Mr. Shober holds a B.S. degree in civil/structural engineering from Brown University.
Michael W. Valente
Senior Vice President, Law, General Counsel & Secretary
Michael W. Valente is Senior Vice President Law, General Counsel, and Secretary at Versum Materials. He is responsible for the company’s Law, Human Resources, Intellectual Property, Corporate Secretary, Communications and Government Relations functions.
Mr. Valente had served as General Counsel of the Materials Technologies business of Air Products since June 2015.
Prior to joining Air Products, Mr. Valente was Vice President, General Counsel and Assistant Secretary of Rockwood Holdings Inc., serving in this capacity since June 2014. At Rockwood, Mr. Valente worked on numerous acquisitions and divestitures, financings and its initial public offering. Prior to that he held various roles in the legal department of Rockwood, which he joined in June 2002.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Valente was a corporate associate for several years at Lowenstein Sandler PC where he practiced mergers and acquisitions, securities law and general corporate matters. He previously worked for four years in several roles as an accountant in a regional public accounting firm.
Mr. Valente holds a B.S. in Accounting, an M.B.A. and a J.D. and is admitted to the bar in New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
Senior Vice President, Delivery Systems & Services
Jeff White is Senior Vice President of the Delivery Systems & Services business segment at Versum Materials. In this role, he is responsible for our GASGUARD®, GASKEEPER®, CHEMGUARD® and MEGASYS® brands and provides our business in areas that support the sales and safe delivery of our specialty materials as well as the installation and service of the equipment and functions necessary to support that activity.
Prior to his current position at Versum Materials, Mr. White served as the Vice President and General Manager of Delivery Systems & Services for the Materials Technologies business of Air Products since 2014.
Mr. White joined Air Products in 2000 as a sales executive based in Colorado Springs. He progressed steadily through sales and regional management positions. In 2003, he was assigned to manage Air Products’ Electronics customer-facing office and efforts in Santa Clara, California. In 2011, Mr. White relocated to Allentown where he was named director, product management, for North America-based products. He was previously director of asset management for Advanced Materials in 2013 and general manager of Delivery Systems in 2014.
Mr. White began his career in 1991 in the United States Air Force, where he worked in systems acceptance testing and engineering. Upon completing his service in the Air Force, he joined the BOC Group as a field-based project engineer, followed by an operations manager role responsible for a team handling gases, chemicals and delivery systems equipment, as well as vacuum and abatement systems.
Mr. White holds B.S. degrees in both industrial engineering and economics from the United States Air Force Academy and an M.S. in industrial engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology.
In his community, Mr. White serves on the board of directors of the Lehigh Valley Chapter of Habitat for Humanity.
